Application

Members of the BIGS Immunosciences and Infection are recruited in a transparent and internationally advertised process which is specified in the BIGS bylaws. The teaching language is English and, thus, very good proficiency in written and spoken English is required. BIGS Immunosciences and Infection members need to be enrolled at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences or the Faculty of Medicine. For further information of the enrollment procedure, please contact the respective graduate office directly.

Application for the BIGS membership

PhD students working on an immunological based topic or whose supervisors are members of the BIGS Immunosciences and Infection can join the graduate school. Application for the BIGS is possible any time during the year.

If you decide to apply for the BIGS graduate program, please contact Alexandra Krämer (alexandra.kraemer@uni-bonn.de) to send the application form. You will need to submit the completely filled application form and an acceptance letter from the faculty to Alexandra Krämer (alexandra.kraemer@uni-bonn.de) .

Requirements

For admission to the graduate school, the following requirements have to be fulfilled:

  • The PhD student are enrolled at the University of Bonn at the Faculty of Medicine or Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (acceptance letter)
  • Meet the admission requirements for doctoral studies according to the relevant doctoral degree regulations
  • A mentor can be named
  • A research project in a subject area relevant to the graduate school must be guaranteed for at least 3 years
  • Excellent university degree (Master degree or equivalent) with at least the grade "good".
  • The teaching language is English and very good proficiency in written and spoken English is required
